It is a diary-like video piece.
After Soni Kum left Korea in 2015, she received an email from her friend, who escaped from North Korea and resides in Seoul. She was unable to read it for several years. His letter contained the heartbreaking story of a “returner”, a former Korean resident in Japan, who immigrated to North Korea from 1959 to 1984. After a while, she read the letter when she was living in India.
In India, she was feeding stray dogs.
She visited North Korea in 1997, during mass starvation. The feeling of guilt for leaving those who starved to death made her unable to throw away leftover foods.
In developed countries like Japan, dogs without human owners on the street would be taken to the facility and will be killed in gas chambers.
One day, she witnessed one of the dogs she was feeding fall seriously ill.
